Glen Elgin Cask Craft Murray McDavid Peated Hogshead Finish
An unusually peaty expression of Glen Elgin from Murray McDavid's Cask Craft Range. This range showcases how the flavour of different spirits interact with different cask types. In this case, this Glen Elgin was finished in a refill Bourbon hogshead that previously held an Islay peated malt whisky, combining the fresh citrus character of the spirit with a subtle smokiness and salinity.
Official Tasting Notes
The spirit is unpeated, with fresh fruits, sweet cereal and a hint of ginger. The cask imparts sweet smoke and sea spray with a gentle fruitiness. This marriage of the two has notes of mellow bonfire embers, zesty lemon and honey with a deliciously long and satisfying finish.
